Your dog can become infected with Heartworm by a simple mosquito bite, or become infected with Ehrlichia, or Lyme if bitten by an infected tick. It is very easy to do a blood parasite screening. Pet insurance is becoming more and more valuable in today’s economy. If an emergency arises for your pet, veterinary expenses can quickly add up and become a financial burden. Are you prepared? Most of us are not. Having pet insurance can help insure that you are prepared for an emergency. Pet insurance offers a variety of plans to fit your pet’s needs and budget. The various pet insurance companies offer plans from major medical plans to accident only plans. Wellness plans can be added on and are a great benefit to help with the annual costs of keeping your pet well i.e. heartworm prevention, wellness exams, intestinal parasite screenings, vaccinations, lab work, dentals, and heartworm tests. Pet insurance is important to start right away from the time you get your pet, but it is never too late. Even if your pet is middle aged and may have some history of medical problems it is still important to get an insurance policy for future unforeseen medical emergencies. Young or old insurance gives you peace of mind in the case of an emergency or illness that your pet’s health and well-being will be protected.
