• Dr. Amrit Rai, D.V.M.
Dr. Rai graduated from Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa in 1993. She also has a Masters degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Panjab Agricultural University, Panjab, India. Dr. Rai started practicing veterinary medicine starting in 1993 and did relief work as a veterinarian in a variety of hospital settings all across Southern California. She moved to Phoenix, AZ in the year 2000 and has been practicing in the Phoenix valley ever since. She also has been a member of the Investigative Committee of the Arizona Veterinary Medical Examining Board for several years. Dr. Rai has two dogs, a handsome Yorkshire Terrier named "Lego", whom she rescued from a previous place of work and another Yorkie mix rescue, "Lyla", in addition to two sons who keep her more than occupied when she is not practicing medicine.
• Mrs. Julie Becker, B.S.
Julie is our office manager and a graduate of University of Phoenix. She has over 14 years experience in the veterinary field, working at Sugarloaf Animal Clinic. She has two dogs, an American Bulldog named Eve and a Boston Terrrier named Otto. In her leisure time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, wake boarding, hiking, boating, duning, snow boarding, and horseback riding. In the last couple of years she is also trying to be more environmentally friendly and started not only recycling but composting too, which she uses for her vegetable and fruit garden (which Eve loves to dig in!). She also keeps quite busy with her four children, Sabrina, Kai, London and Madison.
Pualani is our veterinary technician. She graduated from veterinary technician school in 1988 with an associates in animal science and has enjoyed being a veterinary technician ever since. She has worked at different animal hospitals throughout the country. She loves her children, horses, dogs, and cat. You can find her trail riding or spending time with her family on her days off. Many people ask about her name, her mother was from Hawaii and her name is hawiian pronounced Puw-aa-LAA-Niy which means, heavenly flower. She certainly lives up to her name she is always smiling, helpful, and kind to our patients and clients!
Liesel Zink was born in Alabama and lived in many places throughout the country due to her dad's military career. In high school her father retired and they moved to a ranch in Douglas, AZ where she took care of many different animals including emus, goats, chickens, rabbits and sheep. Liesel was a graduate of long technical institute and was certified in 2003. Her experience includes a specialty cat clinic and emergency/critical care before joining our team in 2010. She is currently working on her undergrad degree in biology with her long term goal of attending Midwestern University’s veterinarian program. She loves spending time with her husband, three kids, two dogs, and three cats! We are so lucky to have Liesel's warm, happy and caring personality on our team!
Sabrina has been in the veterinary field for over twenty years. She has experience in emergency care, general practice, and exotics including Tigers, Lynxes, bobcats, and kangaroos. She enjoys continuing education and has attended several seminars extending her knowledge and keeping current. Some of the most recent seminars attended, covered topics, such as dentistry, surgery and veterinary software. She is a Phoenix native and enjoys playing pool, going to the movies and bowling. Her loves of her life are her rescued dog, Peanut and cat, Felix. Sabrina is very knowledgeable Veterinary technician and will love to answer any questions you might have and shower your pet with lots of love, affection and treats!
Jodi worked in human medicine for 8 years before deciding that veterinary medicine was the place for her. She has her Associate of Applied Science degree and attended a veterinary technician program. She has also taken and passed the veterinary technician state boards in 2010. Additionally, she helped set up and runs a non-profit organization which she spends many hours volunteering her time for disabled veterans taking care of their homes and pets while they are hospitalized and also organizing donations for them for their return. When she is not busy working or volunteering, she also has a pet sitting and dog walking business. Her loves are her rescued, special needs cats and dogs. Jodi is another Veterinary Technician that is always smiling and ready to assist you with your needs and love on your pets!
