Does your puppy need a nose job?

Many dogs have a flat face and are also known as brachycephalic. These dogs may have trouble with breathing due to their tiny nostril openings and have to pant in order to get enough oxygen. This harmful condition is called stenotic nares. These pets cannot exercise a lot without having difficulty breathing and are at an increased risk for heat stroke especially in our beautiful sunny Arizona. Lack of exercise for these breeds leads to obesity causing more stress. A common surgery that Dr. Rai here at Sugarloaf Animal Clinic performs that corrects this problem is called rhinoplasty or a puppy nose job. Please contact our office at 602-971-2720 to schedule your exam if you think your puppy is at risk.
